Imagine being a kid on your first day back at school, and not having a backpack or school supplies…maybe because you don’t have parents looking out for you. Thanks in part to a local nonprofit’s donation of 48 spiffy new backpacks and school supplies, youth in our foster care system didn’t find themselves short of those school tools when the school year began.
The donation came from the Women’s Christian Business Network (aka WC Business Network), a recently-founded networking and educational organization, which acquired the items as part of its “Pack the Backs 4 SB Kidz” project. The project’s aim was simple – purchase backpacks and school supplies for youth in the care of Santa Barbara Child Welfare Services – and it delivered the supplies just 45 days after the campaign began.
DSS is eager to collaborate with local nonprofits to better serve children and clients, and the success of “Pack the Backs” shows it doesn’t have to be complicated. As WC Business Network founder/CEO Sandy
