Family Fun Day & Health Fair

Over 60 health care providers and community organizations, including DSS, helped bring a fun and impactful day of health and wellness to the heart of Santa Barbara’s Westside community at the Family Fun Day & Health Fair on September 22, 2012.

Events took place in two locations.  At the Family Fun Day in Bohnett Park, kids enjoyed bounce houses and a free fun zone, and community agencies hosted games and activities while informing the public about their important services. The day also included live musical performances, special guests, fitness demos, and free giveaways of donated prizes every half-hour.

Meanwhile, a comprehensive Health Fair & Screening was held inside the Westside Boys & Girls Club gym. Families and individuals of all ages received screenings for vision, dental, diabetes and more; as well as information on services available. Services and information were offered in both English and Spanish, and some 500 people participated. We had 31 participants at our Child Welfare Services table and 26 participants at our DSS table, with at least 7 follow-ups requested.

Our staff members at the event included
